To,
The
Prime Minister,
India.
Sub: Contribution the towards Prime Minister’s National
Relief Fund
Respected
Sir,
Being a citizen of India it is my incumbent
duty to stand shoulder to
shoulder with our distressed brothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir and I hereby enclose a small contribution
towards the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. As the article by Economic
Times(annexed) states that cash can be posted, a sum of Rs. 300 is enclosed
within.
Being a responsible
citizen of the country I tried pursuing others to donate as well, but the only
answer I got was “who is going to post, make a draft etc.” Everyone was ready
to donate but none made the effort. This lethargic attitude gave me an idea which
cannot be implemented without the Government’s support and involvement.
The idea is to purchase a phone number and
appeal the countrymen to give a miss call on it. This miss call would deduct
Rs.1 from their balance or add an extra rupee to their bill. This is a unique
donation method, where everyone would be pleased to use. Only after having a
tie-up with all the telecom operators, this would be possible and moreover the
Government has to play a vital role in making people aware.
Out
of 91.49 crore connections as on July, 2014 (source Wikipedia), even if 20-30%
contribute, the amount would be somewhere around 20-22 crores. This amount is
directly proportional to the charge per miss call(taken minimum here i.e. Re.
1). Messaging service can also be introduced to donate.
Reasons to implement it:-
1. Rupee 1 would not be a
big amount to contemplate upon
2. The lethargy in the
society would be removed, because phones are at everybody's tip
3. Efficient way to
collect donation. The amount so collected would be directly transferred to the
Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
4. Fairly a large number
of people would contribute towards the same.
I
sincerely wish that this idea reliefs the people of J&K to a certain level!
Thanking
You.
Yours
faithfully,
The Saviours.
